22-year-old inmate Danijel J. from the town of Prokuplje was brutally beaten last night in the Nis Correctional Facility (KPZ) where he is serving his 13-year prison sentence for murder. As we have learned, he was attacked by two of his cellmates who used metal bars, and with whom he had unresolved issues for a while.

"The clash happened at about 9:50 pm when S.M. (29) from Trstenik and M.F. (27) from Krusevac argued with the 22-year-old inmate of the same pavilion. They ripped out metal legs off the beds and used them to strike him on his head and body, causing serious, life-threatening injuries. He was then dragged to the exit of the pavilion, where he was handed over to the guards. They also handed over to security the bars that they used to beat him up with," our source with knowledge of the case has told us.

The police conducted an investigation and the Public Prosecutor's Office was informed about the incident.

Danijel ended up in prison because he stabbed Vojislav Blagojevic, 26, to death in 2017 in Prokuplje, just because the victim tried to protect the owner of a restaurant Danijel was assaulting at the time.

The inmates who attacked Danijel are serving time for drug trafficking.
