Highest single-day coronavirus death toll in Serbia: 11 more people die, 309 new cases

Since the last report samples taken from 8,102 persons have been tested, 309 of which returned positive for coronavirus.

The total number of cases since the start of the epidemic has increased to 15,504.

11 more people have died, while the overall death toll is now 298. The mortality rate is now at 1.92 percent.

According to today's data, out of the total number of victims, 5 were in Novi Pazar, three in Nis, and one in Vranje.

The number of active coronavirus cases in 2,142, of which as many as 85 patients are on ventilators.

426,981 people have been tested for coronavirus since the start of the epidemic in Serbia.

Emergency situation declared in Belgrade

An emergency situation was declared in Belgrade today, with three measures introduced. The work of all restaurants, cafes and night clubs is limited, without exception, from 11 pm until 6 am the next day.

In is mandatory, without exception, to wear protective masks in all closed spaces, while respecting physical distancing of 1.5 meters. Also, it is mandatory to wear protective masks in public city, suburban and intercity transport.

Non-compliance with the measure of obligatory wearing of protective masks in public transport and indoors will be fined in the amount of 5,000 dinars for each individual who violates it.

The government also decided to ban gatherings of more than 100 people in public indoor spaces, and more than 500 in open spaces. During any gatherings indoors or outdoors, it is necessary to respect physical distancing of 1.5 meters.

Measures in Novi Sad as well

Masks and physical distance are obligatory in all closed spaces, it is forbidden to gather more than five people in a closed space if it isn't possible to provide physical distance, said Mayor Milos Vucevic.
