Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic says that the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) is ready for cooperation with the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) but that it doesn't depend on them whether they will be a part of the government. He says that those who did not call him after the elections should not call him after the government has been formed, either.

Speaking for Happy TV, Dacic stated that the SPS is ready to continue cooperation with the SNS, but that it isn't up to them whether they will continue to be a part of the government.

"The government will be formed as the winner of the election thinks it should be, there is no dilemma. Aleksandar Vucic and the Serbian Progressive Party gained the trust of the citizens in elections, it is up to them to assess what is best for Serbia. As far as we are concerned, we have clearly said that we believe we have done good things in the past together and we are ready to continue that cooperation, and whether that will be the case is a question for Aleksandar Vucic," said Dacic.

He pointed out that going to the opposition is not an issue that should cause such reactions.

"You know, someone now thinks that it is some, God knows what kind of question, whether someone will be inthe government or in the opposition. This is not about the number of MPs at all, this is not about whether his majority will be endangered. This is about whether there is a broader political consensus, about which way Serbia will go from here, bearing in mind all these risks that exist," Dacic explained.

He assessed that it was inappropriate to compare the political influence of certain parties with the Socialist Party of Serbia.

Dacic also revealed that, regardless of the stories and the formation of the future cabinet, he works every day and is very active in the interest of the state.

He stressed that he did not care what office he would have as long as he is working for the benefit of the Serbian people.

"I have been in politics for 30 years and I have not interrupted my activities at any time because it wasn't known whether I would be in power or in opposition. There is that period when the elections are over, the period until the government is formed, when no one answers your phone because they do not know whether you will be in power or in opposition. I am telling everyone - those who don't answer now, shouldn't pick up the phone later either," Dacic stressed.

As he said, there is no waiting, instead, all ministers must do their jobs.

"There is no waiting for the government. We have to work and we must not waste time. Every responsible person, as well as every minister, should do their job, regardless of the fact that a new government is still being formed," said the SPS leader and cited Minister Mladen Sarcevic as an example, who has dedicated himself to his work because it must be done because of the beginning of the new school year.

He added that the SPS gave young people a chance to enter the new parliament.

"When you look at the lists of the SPS and the SNS, it's unrecognizable compared to the past. I have now given a chance to young people, but they should take that chance. Sometimes you only get one chance once in your life. If you enter the parliament now and during the whole mandate don't say a word or don't work on improving yourself, you've become an MP in vain," explained Dacic.

He added that the oldest and the youngest MPs on the SPS list are two women - Smilja Tisma, who is 91, and Dubravka Kralj, a 26-year-old.
