Sava Square is the largest in Serbia and the works there are worth 18 million euros, said President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic.

The square covers 20,000 square meters of space, and 12,000 square meters of roads, he said.

Vucic said that it was "an important step in making Belgrade beautiful and making the city even more functional."

He added that there will be 300 trees in that area alone.

"I don't know who works here nor who the contractor is, but everyone is talking about this here and I came to see it," he said.

He said that in the area where Belgrade Waterfront and Savamala are located, "a part of the city will be made, which will look magnificent and which will help the development of tourism."

"Belgrade is the carrier of our tourism, it was affected by coronavirus, but we expect that in this whole area we can make a part of the city that will contribute to the development of the whole of Serbia," the president of Serbia said after the visit.

"I don't know who works here nor who the contractor is, but everyone is talking about this here and I came to see it"

Vucic also stated that the obligation for all future investors will be to "think about how to add green spaces and expand the lungs of Belgrade, both for the citizens and for everyone who comes to Belgrade."

He added that 7-8 years ago, construction participated less in GDP than it does today.

"I believe that we will be able to finish everything in two and a half to three months, so that the square shines for the New Year holidays."

Today, Vucic is touring the works on Sava Square within the Belgrade Waterfront project.
