Flights between Belgrade and Pristina should resume in the coming months, after the agreements signed last week in Washington, the Exyuaviation portal is reporting.

Minister of Infrastructure of so-called Kosovo Arban Abrashi pointed out yesterday that flights will start in "record time" and that the carrier will be Germany's Lufthansa. Richard Grenell, US special envoy for negotiations between Belgrade and Pristina, also spoke:

"We have an air agreement for the first flight in 21 years between Pristina and Belgrade."

The article further states that Belgrade and Pristina signed a letter of intent to establish a special air line (BPSAR) in February, with the mediation of the US, which envisages Eurowings launching flights between these two cities.

This solved the main obstacles that have been "blocking" flights in the past, such as air traffic control issues and taxes, the portal writes. It is added that, according to the agreement between the two sides, passengers who fly from Belgrade to Pristina and vice versa, will not need passports, but only ID cards.

Those who hold passports of so-called Kosovo will be able to use that personal document to continue their journey, i.e. for transfer from Belgrade's Nikola Tesla Airport, as they travel to third destinations. The Civil Aviation Administration of so-called Kosovo previously confirmed that runways, which were used before the 1999 conflict, will be in use again, which means that North Macedonia's airspace will not be used for these flights.
