Coronavirus is main cause of death in Croatia now, taking more lives than cancer

With 75 patients dying daily from the effects of coronavirus, the infection has become the leading cause of death in Croatia, ahead of cardiovascular diseases and cancers, which usually occupy the first two places.

This is the current order, writes the Croatian portal Index and states that, according to the data of the Croatian Institute of Public Health from last year, 23,048 people died of cardiovascular diseases in Croatia in 2018, and 14,210 of all types of cancer.

That means, the report said, that 63 people died daily from the first type of disease, and 39 from the second, reports Tanjug.

For several weeks now, more patients have been dying from coronavirus than cancer in Croatia every day.

Today's data show that 75 patients died in the last 24 hours, while yesterday it was 74, which was the first time the number had exceeded the average daily number of deaths from cardiovascular diseases, the portal writes.
