Glina Deputy Mayor Branka Baksic Mitic spoke about the consequences of a strong earthquake that hit that part of Croatia more than a month ago, and pointed out that there are people who still do not have a roof over their heads.

"Something I thought would last two weeks, looks like will last three months. More than 50 people still don't a roof over their heads, they have not received any containers or housing. Many people are not connected to water supply, electricity, sewage. The hydrophores are gone, water supply canals have to be dug. Some people have been bathing in washing bowls for a month now, they have no place to take a shower," Mitic told N1.

She added that the army helped, but points out that more help is still needed. She mentioned that there has been assistance from the headquarters and that she had heard from Tomo Medved several times, and that he was forthcoming.

"Tomorrow a coordination group of civil society and volunteers is coming, Boris Milosevic is also coming, I hope that they will unite and that we will all receive the same status, that we will turn to the army for help through Caritas. There are (housing) containers that have not been delivered, but have instead been left at the entrance to the village. People haven't even had toilets for a month. Colonel Car was here, every time I spoke to him, he was forthcoming. But we must have a unified coordination, unite," said the deputy mayor.

"Stickers that were yellow or green may now be red"

"Through the organization 'People for People', we delivered about 122 containers from private donors. We still have about 60 people waiting. We must invite people who know how to connect to water, sewage, they are old people, they can't do it alone," she added.

She says subsequent collapsing is a big problem.

"The Red Cross has given a deadline of February 19 for submitting requests for help. That is a short deadline, because statisticians have not visited all locations, there should be more of them. The stickers that were yellow or green may now be red, roofs and walls have been collapsing," she stressed, as reported by Index.

On top of everything else, Baksic Mitic became infected with coronavirus.

"I didn't have serious symptoms, a little fever and a little more fatigue. While having coronavirus, I worked for 12 hours, from half past 8 in the morning to half past 8 in the evening," said the deputy mayor.
