President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic got vaccinated against coronavirus today at the Healthcare Station of the Health Center Dr. Veroljub Cakic in Majdanpek, eastern Serbia. The president received the Chinese vaccine produced by Sinopharm.

He was vaccinated by doctor Anita Repedjic, to whom Vucic first gave a bouquet of flowers.

"The vaccine is life and I am pleading with everyone to get vaccinated. The sooner we get vaccinated, the sooner we will save more lives. The Chinese sent us 500,000 (more) doses, and at this moment we received 6,000 new doses of Pfizer vaccines," he said after the vaccination.

He said that he would go somewhere in the south of Serbia for the second dose, in 3 weeks' time.

"The day Ana (Brnabic) was vaccinated, a 'campaign' was launched saying only politicians were getting the vaccine, so I decided to wait until a million people received the second dose," he said in reply to a journalist's question.

The president said that Serbia is investing a lot of money in healthcare and pointed out that construction of a Covid hospital near Novi Sad will start soon, followed by Tirsova 2 in Belgrade, as well as Dedinje 2.

"We are investing a lot in healthcare because it will be a symbol of the strength of states going forward," said Vucic.
