Nun Irina has an unusual pet: A hawk lands on her arm every day, after having done its "job"

A calm gaze fixed on a pet that, on the other hand, looks piercingly into the distance and the strong stance of a nun - this is what Sister Irina from the Serbian Orthodox monastery Mileseva looks like, posing with a hawk on her arm. She gave him full freedom to fly over the monastery property, but he is faithful to her and always returns.

The hawk has been her pet for three to four years. It all started with the idea of driving away unwanted guests from the monastery - pigeons that make a mess in the residential area. The advice of a group of airmen who visited the monastery was to bring in falcons. Not to kill, but to disperse the pigeons. But falcons are known to being prone to escaping, while the hawk turned out much better, because it is a faithful bird.

Sister Irina feeds him and lets him fly every day - for an hour or two, the hawk monitors the territory, flies around the monastery and returns to her arm. And then, the hawk resides in its cage.

The monastery lives its life, the nuns are dedicated to prayer and work.

When visitors come, they are surprised to see Irina in front of them, wearing a leather glove and holding her fearless pet, the sharp-eyed hawk.
