"I couldn't recognize the man crying for help other than by voice. A woman was trying not to burn"

Borislav Grujic, owner of an exchange office near the restaurant in Cika Ljubina Street in Belgrade where a gas bottle exploded this morning, injuring six people - one of whom has life-threatening wounds - told Telegraf.rs that the scene was horrible. People were crying, taking off their clothes trying to save themselves from the flames...

He was one of those who rushed to help the injured. He will forever have a man who was crying for help engraved in his memory.

"We all ran to help them. We held Zlatko, the poor man was crying. He was only asking for water. Both of his arms were broken. And legs, he thought. He was completely burned. I know him, but I didn't recognize him except by his voice. He is not the worker from the kiosk. He works for a restaurant across the street," said Grujic.

According to him, a woman had fared the worst.

"She was almost without clothes, she was probably taking them off in order to avoid getting burned to death," he says.

The explosion happened at around 9 am in a fast food restaurant in Cika Ljubina Street, in central Belgrade. A gas bottle exploded, and as Deputy Mayor Goran Vesic said, the possible cause is that the bottles had not been serviced by authorized service technicians.

"The owner was passing by and heard a hissing sound," said Vesic.

The owner of a neighboring restaurant, several workers and passers-by have been injured. They are all treated at the Emergency Center.
