The Belgrade (Beo) Zoo has a lot of animals. The inhabitants of the garden include lions, leopards, polar and brown bears, wolves, macaques and mangabey monkeys, antelopes, buffaloes, zebus and other animals. However, few people are aware that the mysterious three banded armadillo has also arrived there recently.

Namely, this strange animal arrived in the Beo Zoo about ten days ago.

"The three banded armadillo arrived from the Zagreb Zoo last Monday. They eat chopped fruits such as apples and pears, as well as worms. Also, the plan is to bring more individuals and make a small armadillo community," Telegraf.rs was told by the Beo Zoo.

This strange to us animal comes from South America and inhabits northern and central parts of Argentina and Bolivia, as well as certain parts of Brazil and Paraguay.

Three band armadillos are very small and their total body length is about 300 millimeters, with a 64 millimeter long tail. They are dark brown and heavily armored with a thick, leathery shell that is usually divided into three bands. This armor covers the tail, head, feet and back of the animal. The tail is very firm and immobile.

It is almost impossible to see them because they sleep for 16 hours a day and leave their shelter only when it gets dark.
