What is happening in Fiat factory in Kragujevac: Is it working, is it facing supply chain problems?

The production of the Fiat 500L cars continued today at the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Serbia (FCA) factory, Telegraf Biznis has learned.

As has been confirmed for our portal, after the problems with the supply of parts, due to which the production was stopped, today the shift continued normally.

The Independent Trade Union of that factory told us that the workers have returned to the shift.

"The lack of parts in the automotive industry is currently present everywhere in the world. These are all consequences of coronavirus, which has reflected on the global market, and even on ours, and everything is part of what is happening after coronavirus. We have had delays before, however, we are functioning today," Sasa Djordjevic told us.

The factory did not specify which parts are in question, but judging by what is known to be happening globally, car companies mostly lack parts that come from distant countries, such as China.

This week, this year's production at the FCA in Kragujevac was supposed to be completed.

Around the world, manufacturers are reducing production because they lack major components, especially chips. Experts around the world predict that the shortages will continue next year, and the problems could get worse.

In some production plants, stocks of semi-finished cars have already started to accumulate, so some manufacturers have started selling vehicles without additional equipment. That will be delivered to customers when it becomes available.
