An agreement for the realization of the first phase of a project to build a marina in Veliko Gradiste was signed today by the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, the Port Management Agency, the municipality of Veliko Gradiste, and the public company JPV Srbijavode.

This was announced by Minister Tatjana Matic, who stressed that the agreement will make it possible to start building the marina and contribute to improving sustainable and planned development of nautical tourism in this part of Serbia, as well as to development of the tourist and recreational complex on Silver Lake (Srebrno Lake), which is seeing an increase in the number of tourists and overnight stays.

Matic stressed that there is currently a dock for boats without accompanying facilities, and added that more and more luxury vessels are sailing on the Danube, and that tourists wish to visit Silver Lake.

"The Danube here is also Serbia's border with Romania, where an increasing number of tourists are coming from," Matic said.

She added that the construction of a marina means exceptional growth of the tourist potential of the municipality of Veliko Gradiste and thus more visits to that municipality, and that she is certain that natural beauties of our country will be made more accessible to domestic and foreign tourists.

Director of the Port Management Agency Vuk Perovic said that marinas represent an important segment of nautical tourism and that in the previous period the space has been standardized, the first port areas have been designated, while the Agency has prepared a study on the development of microlocations of the network of Danube and Sava marinas.

"The study provides an opportunity for new investments and projects for construction of marinas, which will improve nautical tourism in Serbia. Further significant investments in the marina in Veliko Gradiste are planned, which will increase this local governmen's revenue and attract nautical enthusiasts to the east of our country," said Perovic.

He stressed that the Agency will work intensively to put our future marinas on Europe's nautical map.

A destination for boaters

Perovic added that Veliko Gradiste is recognized as a promising location to develop a marina and an international passenger port due to the proximity of tourist and sports facilities, primarily Silver Lake.

According to him, during 2021, the Agency invested funds in building an international passenger port near the Ram Fortress.

The director of JVP Srbijavode pointed out that thanks to this very important infrastructure project, the municipality of Veliko Gradiste will get a marina and thus become an attractive destinations for boaters, as well as increase the visibility of Serbia's nautical potential and bring foreign tourists closer to cultural, historical and nature sites of our country.

The president of the municipality of Veliko Gradiste, Dragan Milic, stressed that the construction of the marina will further improve the tourist offer of Silver Lake, while the advantages that the Danube brings with it will be fully used, and that an increase in the number of guests visiting this destination is to be expected.

The marina will be located on the Danube, near Silver Lake.
