World's most beautiful village opens its doors to visitors: All the reasons to visit Mokra Gora this spring

This year's tourist season, which will last until October 31, starts on April 1 at the Museum-Tourist Complex Sargan Eight (Sarganska Osmica in Serbian) on Mokra Gora. Over the next seven months, the Nostalgija train will be departing twice every day, for a trip on the narrow-gauge heritage railway running from Mokra Gora to Sargan Vitasi, said Nebojsa Mladenovic, advisor for tourism and hospitality at the Serbian Railway Infrastructure.

The museum-tourist train Nostalgija will be departing from the Mokra Gora station at 10:30 and 1:30, while departures from the Sargan Vitasi station will be at 11:27 and 14:27. In addition, in the period from June 15 until August 31, a third pair of trains will run regularly, departing from Mokra Gora at 16:10, and from Sargan Vitasi station at 17:07, while during the rest of the tourist season it will run in accordance with with the needs of visitors.

"Also, in accordance with the interest of tourists, during the entire season of this year, if necessary, trains will be departing from Mokra Gora at 8:00, and from Sargan Vitas at 08:57," said Mladenovic.

The museum-tourist complex Sargan Eight is organizationally a part of the company Serbian Railways Infrastructure. The Sargan Eight is one of the most attractive herigage railways in Europe and is considered to be the a unique architectural masterpiece among narrow gauge railways anywhere in the world.

This railway between Mokra Gora and Sargan Vitasi in the shape of the number 8, is 760 millimeters wide, passes through the most beautiful mountainous areas of Mokra Gora, crossing five bridges and running through 22 tunnels.

The total length of the railway of 15.5 kilometers, while the altitude varies by 300 meters.

The Nostalgija train's locomotive, which will cruise along the famous narrow gauge railway announces the spring season and opens the doors of the Mokra Gora region to all tourists.
