Heavy snow and winds hit Mount Golija over the weekend and caused major traffic problems.

"It was horrible. We were literally snowed in in a minute. The strong wind created snowdrifts, we couldn't go back or move on. I was scared because my child was in the car, but I tried not to panic. I immediately called the mayor of Ivanjica, who told me not to worry, he would send a team and everything would be fine. However, the blizzard was not stopping, the wind was so strong and there were more cars stranded in the snow on the road. In the meantime, the people who were going from Odvracenica towards Ivanjica called their services. And so, thank God, in the end, everyone arrived and pulled us out of the snow," says Milkica G., who was stranded on the road leading to Odvracenica.

A Civil Protection team of the Municipality of Ivanjica and members of the Gendarmerie participated in the rescue of passengers on Mt. Golija, reports Infoliga.

The blizzard created snowdrifts on the critical part of the road towards Odvracenica, trapping a truck and a passenger vehicle in the direction of Ivanjica, and three more passenger vehicles in the direction of Odvracenica.

The traffic on the Odvracenica-Preko Brdo was interrupted. The road maintenance workers are trying to break through the snow, but their job is made more difficult by the snow that keeps falling and the strong wind. Members of the Gendarmerie are still on the ground. Drivers are asked not to go there due to unfavorable weather conditions.
