The holes in the fuselage of a Croatia Airlines plane that flew from Zagreb to Sarajevo last night were not caused by firearms. A preliminary investigation requested by the Prosecutor's Office of BiH showed that there were no traces of gunpowder on the fuselage.

"After the investigation, according to preliminary findings of experts, there are no indications that would indicate towards the conclusion that the damage to the plane was caused by firearms. According to experts, the damage was caused by mechanical blows. The analysis determined that there are no traces of gunpowder particles, or other traces that would indicate a projectile from a firearm," the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced.

The results of the preliminary investigation on the Croatia Airlines plane, on which damaged was observed after it landed at the airport in Sarajevo, showed that there were no traces of gunpowder particles on the plane's fuselage, Jutarnji.hr reported earlier.

The Croatia Airlines plane that landed in Sarajevo last night had damage, and there was speculation that it was caused by firearms.

The plane's pilot reported the damage upon arrival in Sarajevo.

The Prosecutor's Office of BiH was informed about the case, and the investigation on the runway of the Sarajevo airport was completed.

"After receiving information that the regular control of the plane at Sarajevo Airport, which arrived by from Zagreb, showed damage to the fuselage of the aircraft, which may have been caused by bullets, the on duty prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH requested an investigation by an investigative team, in the presence of officials from the Directorate of Civil Aviation of BiH," it was announced.

The state prosecutor's office said earlier that the safety of passengers was not endangered during the flight, and that detailed examination would determine the manner in which the damage occured as well as the safety of the aircraft for further air navigation.

Croatia Airlines reacted earlier with a statement and said that a police investigation was underway.

"After the landing of the Croatia Airlines Dash 8-Q400 plane, which took off from Zagreb on the regular Zagreb-Sarajevo route last night and landed in Sarajevo at 10:50 pm, damage was noticed on the fuselage and, in accordance with the usual procedures of the national airline, necessary steps were taken. A police investigation is currently underway, which aims to determine the details related to the cause of the damage, and we will inform the public about its completion," Croatia Airlines said, adding that passengers were safe, 24sata.hr reported.

"The safety of passengers and crew was not endangered at any time, while the national airline was guided by the highest safety standards in this situation as well. The damaged plane is currently at the Sarajevo airport, and all passengers from last night's flight will be redirected by another plane to the next flight on the Sarajevo-Zagreb route," concluded Croatia Airlines.
