The number of examinations in Covid clinics in Serbia has increased, and in some, that number is as much as four times higher than in the previous period.

Tijana Blagojevic, the Covid coordinator of the Senjak clinic, told Tanjug that yesterday the number of examinations exceeded 160, which is significantly higher than a month ago, when there were between 30 and 40.

"Today, too, unfortunately, we expect that number. As the trend shows, compared to last week, the number of infected people is increasing day by day, so we also expect a higher number of examinations," said Dr. Blagojevic.

She pointed out that the majority of those reporting to Covid clinics have just returned from vacation, as well as that a large number of citizens come for a check-up after vacationing in Greece.

"There is a slightly higher number of people who are coming, who previously had Covid, with a slightly more serious clinical picture, or who are not vaccinated. There are also those who are vaccinated, but the clinical pictures are milder in those who received three or four doses," Blagojevic said.

She also said that the clinical picture now is similar to that in January and February, when the Omicron strain appeared, so the main symptoms are fever, headache, sore throat, cough.

"Recently, we have been concerned about a smaller number of patients who have high fever, exceeding 39 degrees that lasts for a few days, even though they are taking analgesics, fever-reducing drugs, even with antibiotic therapy," Blagojevic pointed out.

When it comes to treatment, she said that antiviral drugs are mainly used for Covid, so Covid clinic prescribe favipiravir, molnupiravir, paxlovid, which proved to have good results in the first five days of the disease, and if the condition later becomes complicated with a bacterial infection, antibiotics are added.

Because of the high number of examinations and of those infected with coronavirus, since yesterday Covid clinics are again open from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Also, clinics in Belgrade, in 178 Cara Dusana Street in Zemun, and 16 Knez Danilova Street in Palilula, will be open 24 hours a day, every day.

3,291 new daily cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Serbia yesterday, out of 11,895 people who got tested.
