It all depends on the US government

The best Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic is on the list of participants of the upcoming US Open tournament. He has repeatedly said that he wants to compete in the last Grand Slam of the year, but there is an objective problem - mandatory vaccination for everyone entering the territory of the US.

Although Novak hopes that this measure will be canceled by August or that he will get some kind of exemption to play in the last major tournament of the year, there are some bad vibes coming from the US.

The organizers of the US Open say that they do not want to get involved in the situation and ask for medical exemptions, as the Australians have done, although in the meantime several public figures, including actors, doctors and politicians, have supported Djokovic.

A petition was also launched asking that Djokovic be allowed to play, signed by over 10,000 people, while the ITF rules say the following:

"All eligible players are automatically entered into the men's and women's singles main draw fields based on the ranking 42 days prior to the first Monday of the event. The US Open does not have a vaccination mandate but will respect the US government's position regarding travel into the country for unvaccinated non-US citizens."

Serbia's Miomir Kecmanovic, Filip Krajinovic, Laslo Djere and Dusan Lajovic are already in the main draw and they do not have the same problems as Novak Djokovic, who is not vaccinated.

The US Open starts on August 29 and will last for two weeks. Novak played in the final last year, so if he is not able to compete now he will lose 1,200 points and probably drop out of the top ten on the ATP list.
