Mother of murdered baby was in police several times: She was not protected because she did not report Goran?

The ex-partner of Goran K. (43), who attacked her and her one-year-old child with an ax on Wednesday evening in Zagreb, Croatia - which resulted in the infant's death - was at the police several times where she was interviewed, but she never officially filed a criminal complaint against the killer, writes the website Telegram.

According to the Criminal Code, threats are prosecuted only if the victim suggests that. The police are therefore justifying themselves by saying they could not have formally initiated a new case against the man, although, as Telegram reports, it is evident that they knew the 42-year-old woman was being abused by her former partner for years.

"He told her he was going to kill her sooner or later"

Telegram learned from the woman's friends that she decided to end all contact with Goran K. because he would not change his behavior. However, her friends say, he could not come to terms with that.

"Since then, he constantly caused problems for her. He told her that he would kill her sooner or later," the friends of the victim reveal and add that Goran K. apparently took advantage of this time because his ex-partner's brother had moved to another address.

"Until then, they all lived together in the house, but the brother moved before the holidays. Goran obviously took advantage of the fact that she no longer had anyone to defend her," the friends are convinced.

The victim called the police on Wednesday

The 42-year-old woman called the police for the last time on Wednesday evening, when Goran K. broke into her home in Zagreb. She reported that he was abusing her and that he was most likely drunk.

The police then received two more anonymous reports. One said there was a fight in the street, and the other that two people, these were the 42-year-old woman and her daughter, got injured with an axe.

The police officers who were first to arrive encountered a terrible scene - a seriously injured mother and child, while the attacker managed to escape.

The baby and her mother were rushed to the hospital with serious injuries, but the child died, despite the efforts of the doctors.

After the attack, Goran K. caused two traffic accidents with his vehicle, and in the end, committed suicide by throwing himself under a truck.
