The Zemun commission for refugees and expelled persons, in cooperation with the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia, the international humanitarian organization Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) and the local Migration Council of the Municipality of Zemun, organized on February 21 the distribution of bank payment cards for refugees from the war-torn Ukraine, it was announced by the City Municipality of Zemun.

There are 13 registered families from Ukraine on record in Zemun, and this is not the first form of assistance that comes from the non-governmental sector, in cooperation with the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs.

For this category of persons, Serbian language classes are provided, and help for families - payment cards, have been presented by the member of the Council of the City of Zemun and the president of the Municipal Council for Migration, Bosko Radovanovic, along with the president of the Jesuit Refugee Service for Serbia, Miodrag Zivkovic.

This was a new opportunity for refugees from Ukraine to express themselves about the conditions and type of needs they have, as well as about the problems they face, in order to solve them together as soon as possible.

According to the data of the Commissariat, 127,000 Ukrainians entered Serbia in 2022, and already in November there were only 5,800 of them, including children, i.e., less than 200 families, which indicates that Serbia is only a temporary destination to them.
