The EU's special envoy for dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, Miroslav Lajcak, said that during a recent meeting in Pristina as part of preparations for a new round of dialogue at the technical level today in Brussels, he informed the prime minister of the provisional institutions of Pristina, Albin Kurti, about the importance of avoiding any uncoordinated move that could disrupt normalization process.

The Slovak diplomat stressed the need to fully focus on normalization and implementation of the Brussels Agreement and the annex from Ohrid.

"During the meeting in Pristina with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and First Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi, we discussed expectations from the upcoming meeting in Brussels, and I stressed the need to fully focus on normalization and implementation of the Brussels Agreement and its Ohrid Annex. I also stressed the importance of avoiding any uncoordinated moves that could potentially disrupt the process," Lajcak wrote on Facebook yesterday, as quoted by Tanjug.

He expressed his concern about the events in the north of Kosovo and Metohija, about which, he said, he was informed by representatives of civil society and political parties during a visit to that part of Kosovo and Metohija.

"Unfortunately, what I heard worried me. Therefore, I reiterated the need to avoid any possibility of escalation and to fully focus on normalization", said Lajcak.

He also touched to his visit to Belgrade, where on Friday he met with President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, and the director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic.

"During our meeting, we discussed further implementation of the agreement from February 27 and its annex of March 18 in order to prepare for the meeting in Brussels," the Slovak diplomat said.

He expressed expectation that both main negotiators will be ready to agree on concrete next steps towards the implementation of the agreement. The dialogue will be continued today at the technical level, in the wake of a meeting between Vucic and Kurti in Brussels on May 2, at which no significant progress was made regarding the formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities (ZSO), a provision of the Brussels Agreement signed in 2013.

As Tanjug was told earlier at the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, it is expected that today in the building of the European External Affairs Service (EEAS), director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Petar Petkovic will first meet with Lajcak, and then direct talks between the delegations of Belgrade and Pristina will follow.
