Vucic: Serbia will not recognize so-called Kosovo regardless of pressure

President Aleksandar Vucic said today that Serbia will not recognize so-called Kosovo as independent, regardless of pressure from Germany and other countries.

When asked if Serbia might be in danger from the region, since Germany announced it would finance the so-called Kosovo police with a substantial amount, Vucic, who was touring the EXPO construction site, said that as far as Kosovo and Metohija are concerned, it is not only about Germany, but also many other countries.

"They want to see an independent Kosovo at any cost, and they want to exert as much pressure on Serbia as possible, so that it recognizes an independent Kosovo. That will not happen regardless of how great the pressure is, regardless of how many Serbs they beat, expel, while keeping silent about all that," said Vucic.

According to the president, "Yesterday they even invented a story about how Serbs fought each other, so (what happened to) Nenad Raskovic was a consequence".

"Therefore, there is no lie that they will stop short of use. But I think that speaks volumes about them, because not facing the facts, running away from reality, speaks of their weaknesses," Vucic said.

When asked to comment on the Montenegrin media increasingly reporting that there are more and more officials able to "bare their teeth" to Serbia, Vucic said that he thought they wanted to extend a hand, not bare their teeth.

"It's not very polite to go and bare your teeth to people. So I would prefer that they were interested in helping the brotherly Serb people. I'd like them not to want to participate in every witch-hunt against Serbs," said Vucic.

He pointed out that the positions held by the two countries are different.

"On the one hand, you have Montenegro, which has recognized Kosovo, and Serbia, which has not and will not. On the one hand, you have Montenegro, which is a member of NATO, then you have Serbia, which is not and will not be. The third thing, you have Montenegro, which imposed all sanctions against the Russian Federation without question, and Serbia, which has not, and at least now, and as far as it has endured, has shown that it will not. When you take only these facts into account, everything else is in between: political manouvering, often manipulation. And I don't want to say anything bad about them, let them do their job," said Vucic.

The president added that he knows that the fact that Serbia was 50 percent behind Montenegro in terms of average salaries, and that today Serbia is ahead, is difficult for them.

"But we've worked hard, I wish the same for them, and we will look forward to every success of theirs in the future," said Vucic.
