Serbia to outpace Europe: 4 percent economic growth expected next year!

President Aleksandar Vucic said today that Serbia was the fastest growing economy in Europe in the first six months of 2026, and that next year it will be the fastest growing economy by far with a growth rate of more than 4 percent.

During a tour of the EXPO construction site, Vucic said that this data sets Serbia apart and will attract investors and tourists to our country and bring a better standard of living to our citizens.

"You have to work and fight for that. Imagine what it will mean for us when we present Serbia to more than 140 countries. More than 100 world leaders, ministers, prime ministers, presidents will come to visit their (EXPO) stands and pavilions," said Vucic.

He said that the EXPO is the pride of the whole of Serbia and that critics of that project were never able to dream about what could be achieved.

"Part of that EXPO is what you could see yesterday in the small town of Veliki Popovic, in the municipality of Despotovac. The skirting boards are made there. That's all the EXPO is and that's what we've managed to achieve, create work, earnings for our businesses and companies. But also to learn a lot from Chinese companies, to see a lot, what they do, how they work," said Vucic.

He stated that the EXPO brings an incredible change and that this will be the direction in which Belgrade will expand, stressing that after EXPO Serbia will be able to organize any world congress, conference or gathering because it will have the best space.

"How much senseless whining there was about the Fair and everything, and that will also be a much nicer space. Before the end of the year, you will have the Belgrade Eye, a completely different face of the city. And regardless of the fact that many tried to stop us, they failed to stop Serbia's progress," the president said.

He added that a normal person cannot understand that the Museum of Natural History and the Aquarium bother someone, but when you believe in something and fight for it with all your might, then it can come true.

"No matter how much some have been preventing and working against, no matter how many objective problems we have, from Covid to droughts, floods, sanctions, this kind and that kind, NIS, everything else, regardless of everything, we will succeed."

Vucic added that Serbia had not had such chance to promote itself since 1961, when Belgrade hosted the first Non-Aligned Movement conference, and stated that EXPO will be the biggest event in the world next year.
