The visit of President of Montenegro Jakov Milatovic showed that Serbia is the most important country in the region, which leads a peaceful and good-neighborly cooperation policy, especially through the Open Balkan initiative as well as through the Berlin Process, Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesic said today.

"Serbia and President Aleksandar Vucic lead a policy of pece and cooperation in the region, especially through Open Balkans' initiative as well as through the Berlin Process, within which we cooperate and create a single market of people, goods and capital. We are abolishing borders, and one of the concrete steps is the joint collection of tolls with North Macedonia, which has been functioning since about 10 days ago," Vesic told Prva TV.

He recalled that President Vucic himself stressed that Serbia and Montenegro will be connected by a highway, that the Belgrade-Bar railway is being overhauled and that both countries are interested in cooperation regarding a gas terminal.

"During the visit, they talked about the future, because President Vucic always talks about the future he sees in cooperation, removing borders, in the free flow of people, goods and capital and, of course, in the European Union. Serbia and Montenegro will be the first two countries from the Western Balkans to enter the EU whenever that happens, and we will be accepted together," said Vesic.

When it comes to a debate in the Serbian National Assembly, where the sacking of Economy Minister Rade Basta is on the agenda, Vesic said that, according to the coalition agreement between the SNS and SPS-JS, the candidate for the new minister will be proposed by the SPS and United Serbia (JS).

"They will give a candidate who must fit into the vision of Ana Brnabic and the government, which was not the case with Basta. He led his own policy, while all members of the government, even though they may sometimes think differently, must conduct the government's common policy," said Vesic.
