Albin Kurti has announced the hiring of an additional 500 so-called policemen and 600 members of the so-called the Kosovo Security Forces (KSF) in the coming year, with the message that no one will stop them either in the south or in the north, once again showing the face of a warlord, and presenting the most open threat to the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, the Office for Kosovo and Metohija said in its reaction.

"The additional police and paramilitary forces that Kurti intends to employ do not serve to deter any external threat, because such a threat does not exist, but rather to strengthen the formations to intimidate and terrorize the Serb population in Kosovo and Metohija with the aim of continuing the ethnic cleansing of Serbs carried out by Kurti.

By saying that he and his punitive expedition 'will not be able to be stopped 'either in the south or in the north', Kurti clearly defines the Serbs as the enemy that should be attacked with force and weapons. Once again, we stress that Kurti's special police, and especially the paramilitary formation 'KFS', have no business in majority Serb areas, because the Serbs alone, according to the Brussels Agreement and according to the principles for the establishment of the Community of Serb Municipalities (ZSO) as well as international guarantees, have the jurisdiction to take care of order and security in areas where they live," a statement issued by the Office reads.

"This, therefore, is not just another of Kurti's numerous threats, but also about the most direct negation of the very meaning of the dialogue, and it is clear that he does not think about coexistence and inter-ethnic trust, because his plan is a mono-ethnic 'Kosovo', and the strengthening of the police and 'KFS' is a means to reach that goal," they say.

"In addition to being an explicit threat to the stability of the region, Kurti's militarization is also a symptom of the economic unsustainability of the self-proclaimed 'Kosovo', because social problems cannot be solved by putting guns in the hands of unemployed young Albanians, but by building the economy.

Those to whom this was not clear until now, today must find it obvious that the first and most important step towards a peaceful and stable region is to decisively restrain Albin Kurti and his belligerent policy," the Office stressed.
