Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic prepared an extremely sharp and direct speech for the UN General Assembly session, where a resolution about Srebrenica is to be put up for a vote today.

Among other things, Vucic revealed that he tried previously to raise the issue of the crimes committed against the Serb people in 1999 (by NATO) and that he received the answer "don't look to the past" at the UN Security Council, but that only two days later he found out that a resolution was being prepared about Srebrenica.

"I am asking the permanent German representative (to the UN) why they kept all the preparations of the resolution secret. When it was being prepared regarding Rwanda, it was prepared in a very transparent way. And do you know what actually happened on March 24 (the anniversary of the start of the bombing) at the Security Council when we asked about the bombing of Serbia in 1999? They told us, 'don't look to the past, look to the future'. When they have some political needs, then they can dig deep into the past, but when someone else mentions the past, the facts are not important. Who needs this resolution, why, precisely at this time?

Why didn't these people start talking about the genocide committed by their own countries. I only hope that all other genocides in line with this resolution, including the genocide against the Serb people in the First World War, will be considered. Serbia was the number one country in the world in terms of the number of victims (in that war), 28 percent of Serbia's total population died," he recalled.
