"No disgraceful resolution passed under terrible pressure from Western powers will brand us as criminals, nor will they stifle our freedom-loving and state-building spirit," said Djordje Milicevic

After the UN General Assembly voted on the draft resolution on Srebenica, members of the Government of Serbia said that Serbia had the opportunity to see who its friends are and that most of the world was still on the side of truth and justice.

(Out of UN's 193 members, representatives of 171 were present, with 84 voting in favor, 19 against, while 68 abstained.)

Cabinet Minister Djordje Milicevic said last night that Serbs are not a genocidal people.

He stressed that "no disgraceful resolution passed under terrible pressure from Western powers will brand us as criminals, nor will they stifle our freedom-loving and state-building spirit."

"We are especially proud of our President Aleksandar Vucic, who stood up in New York like David against Goliath, and delivered a well-argued lesson in justice and truth to the representatives of Germany (who sponsored the resolution), but also to the entire hypocritical West," said the minister.

According to him, it was clearly seen on Thursday who our friends are, and who are those to whom Serbia is "brotherly and friendly only when they need some help, which we have always provided to them with an open heart."

"Today it was seen who is faithful and who traitorous, and Serbia, I am convinced, will appreciate that in the future," Minister Milicevic said last night.

He stressed that the Serbs were always only as strong as they are united, and have demonstrated that now.

"For centuries, many tried to separate and divide us with the border on the Drina River, but they have never succeeded in this evil plan and will never succeed, because the Drina River is not a border that separates the Serbs, but a backbone that unites them," said the minister.

Minister for Family Welfare and Demography Milica Djurdjevic Stamenkovski pointed out that Serbia has friends, because 106 countries did not vote for the disgraceful Srebrenica resolution in the United Nations General Assembly.

"Its representatives and sponsors invested millions in lobbying, exerted unimaginable pressure on countries, pushed by all means for the adoption of the resolution, and they did all this to fight against a small but heroic Serbia," she said in a statement.

She atressed that despite this, a far greater number of countries refused to support "this political document, which only deepens conflicts and encourages destabilization in the Balkans."

Minister for Environmental Protection Irena Vujovic said that the majority of the world is on the side of justice and truth, not force, and that this was evident in the vote in the UN General Assembly.

"However, the vote showed another important thing - the sponsors and co-sponsors had to be careful because they had against them a statesman who saw through their intentions and confronted them in front of the whole world," Vujovic wrote on her Instagram account.

She thanked the majority of the world that did not support the resolution, the part that did not succumb to blackmail and did not turn a blind eye to the truth.

"The state team of Serbia, led by President Aleksandar Vucic, showed the world an example of statesmanship, resistance, determination and fighting for one's country's interests, despite the fact that a strong power was against us," she added and pointed out that the whole world had the opportunity to hear the voice of a freedom-loving country.

Minister of Justice Maja Popovic said that she is very proud of the steadfast fight that President Aleksandar Vucic led at the UN in New York to protect the dignity of the Serb people.

"He showed great strength, exceptional courage, enormous knowledge and composure in the fight for historical truth, making almost superhuman efforts to defend the honor and reputation of Serbia and our people. This was an exceptional opportunity to make sure who our historical friends are, and which countries are political sycophants of great powers. We thank everyone who stood up for truth and justice," Popovic wrote on Instagram.
