Trucks collide head-on near Sid, horrific fire breaks out: One person dies, videos of accident spread online

A serious traffic accident occurred this morning in Croatia near the Sid border crossing with Serbia, between the villages of Orolik and Banovci.

The police have confirmed that one of the truck drivers was killed and that both vehicles caught on fire.

It is not known at this time whether any Serbians were involved.

"At 10:22 a report was received about an accident on the D-46 road between the settlements of Orolik and Banovci, involving two trucks. Police officers and other emergency services were dispatched to the scene. According to initial information, one person was killed in the accident. Police officers are diverting traffic," the Croatian Ministry of Interior (MUP) announced.

A big traffic jam formed on the road.

"I drove to there and saw that the road was closed. A helicopter arrived to transport the other driver. (The trucks) were burning badly, we had to turn around and go back," one eyewitness told 24 sata.hr.

The cause of the accident has not yet been disclosed.
