The plain taking President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic to Moscow has just taken off.

Vucic is traveling to the Russian capital to attend the Victory Day Parade on Red Square on May 9.

The president of Serbia is also scheduled to have a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday, as announced by the Kremlin.

Media in Serbia have speculated in recent days that Latvia and Lithuania had banned the Serbian president's plane from their airspace, so it is not known which air corridor the plane is taking.

On May 9, Russia commemorates the 80th anniversary of victory over fascism in World War II with a parade on Red Square in Moscow and with a series of other events.

More than 20 world leaders are expected to attend.
