Karol Nawrocki, an independent candidate supported by the nationalist opposition Law and Justice party, has been elected as the new president of Poland.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic congratulated him on this occasion.

"Heartfelt congratulations to you on your election as president of Poland. Although you are taking on this responsible duty in times of great challenges for Europe and the world, I am convinced that your political experience and prudent policy will make a great contribution to diplomatic efforts for peace, stability and prosperity of our continent, as well as bring new momentum in cooperation with Serbia," wrote Vucic, and added:

"In these efforts, you will always have a sincere friend and partner in Serbia. I look forward to future cooperation and joint projects that benefit our citizens."
