"Preparatory EXPO 2027 meeting is the largest diplomatic gathering in Serbia"

Director of the company EXPO 2027 Dusan Borovcanin has said that the first preparatory meeting for the Specialized Exhibition EXPO 2027 is the largest diplomatic gathering in Serbia, as well as that representatives of the participating countries will have the opportunity to tour the EXPO construction site.
Borovcanin noted that everything is ready for the start of the two-day meeting that will open tomorrow on Belgrade, and that the goal is for the participating countries to become better acquainted with the EXPO plan and program, in order to prepare their pavilions in the best way.
"This meeting is challenging in itself, we expect the largest diplomatic gathering in Serbia. Countries will be informed how to plan their programs and how to organize their pavilion at the exhibition,' Borovcanin told RTS.
He pointed out that the upcoming meeting is the first of four preparatory meetings as well as that more can be organized if necessary.
Borovcanin said that on Wednesday, the participants will have the opportunity to visit the EXPO construction site.
"Usually, when they go on a tour of the construction site, it is a flat meadow, but here, construstion works are already advanced," he said.
According to him, all works at the EXPO site are progressing according to plan.
He reminded that the success of EXPO is reflected in the number of participating countries, as well as the impression that the host country leaves on all participants.
The first planning meeting for will be held in the Sava Center in Belgrade, gathering representatives from some 140 countries from all over the world.
Serbia's First Deputy PM and Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali, Secretary General of the International Exhibitions Bureau (BIE) Dimitri Kerkentzes, and Dusan Borovcanin will all give opening speeches.
EXPO 2027 Belgrade will be held from May 15 to August 15, 2027 and will last a total of 93 days.
It will be the first ever EXPO in the Western Balkans and the largest global event that Serbia has ever organized.
The theme of the exhibition is, Game(s) for Humanity: Sports and Music for All, and it highlights the values of universality, cooperation, creativity and development through play. Its inclusivity played a key role in Serbia beating competition from Spain, Thailand, Argentina and the US.
The EXPO 2027 site will spread on 25 hectares and will include three program units.
