Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) leader and adviser to Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic for regional issues Milos Vucevic said today that the ruling party will not hold a counter rally on Vidovdan (June 28), but that it is considering organizing a gathering on July 5, most likely in Kragujevac or Novi Sad.

"I said about the counter-rally that we will not hold a gathering on Vidovdan, we can only join the students (opposed to blockades) at the literary evening they are preparing," said Vucevic.

Vucevic told Happy TV that a rally on July 5 in Novi Sad or Kragujevac is under consideration.

"Our plea to everyone is that no one should wish for a (counter) rally. We do not want Serbian blood to be spilled. They want to attack students who want to study, the state and us will be with them. We will not allow anything to happen to them," said Vucevic.

He stressed that no one should attack, threaten or cause chaos in the country, and that the recent incident in Vrnjacka Banja, when a man shot at the SNS premises, should not be repeated.

"This is a consequence of the toxicity spread through the media. To shoot at people who do not think like they (protesters), at journalists and anyone else. These have all become legitimate targets. Everything they do, the blockades, obstructions, in the end the people will resist them. People want to be able to move freely, to go to school and work. The state must not allow (protesters) to take the law into their own hands. They live a viral life, those blockaders, like children," said Vucevic.

He recalled that there have been blockades for seven or eight months and that conflicts and divisions have been announced.

"We will all pay the price for that. All of this is reflected on the economic growth of the country, and spills over into our homes, our income, salaries and pensions. Serbia must move on. EXPO is in the foreground, it is the future of Serbia. We have to fight for investments and higher salaries," Vucevic said.

The SNS leader also touched on the session of the Assembly in Novi Sad, that has been prevented and obstructed, stating that the blockaders provoked and attacked Mayor Zarko Micin.

"I heard from the mayor that the session was held in difficult conditions. They provoked and attacked the mayor. The important thing is that the city will not stop. It's ridiculous to block the building and think that the session will not take place. Councilors can work and make decisions in another building," said Vucevic.

He pointed out that the blockaders are obviously ready for radicalization, but they don't have that strength at the moment.

"The councilors went in calmly. The police secured the passage. The opposition does not know what to do, except to provoke. Micin was calm, acted responsibly and I congratulate him on that," said Vucevic.
