Serbian National Assembly President Ana Brnabic said today that those taking part in the blockades planned violence for Vidovdan (June 28), starting with attacks on students in Pionirski Park (who are opposed to blockades).

She added that some of the organizers of the protest announced for that day presented what was in fact a political program of the "blockaders".

Brnabic told TV Happy that the protest announced for Vidovdan by the students taking part in blockades is about everything that is the opposite of what that holiday has historically represented for Serbia and the Serb people.

"Unfortunately, everything they are planning for Vidovdan is the opposite of what Vidovdan has meant for our country and for our people, throughout history. Vidovdan is a holiday of unity and togetherness, one of the most important and biggest, most glorious dates in our history. They, as we could see from some of the blockaders' documents, on 36 pages, planned violence for that day," Brnabic said.

She added that they were planning to attack the students in Pionirski Park, stating that they issued an ultimatum "reminiscent of the ultimatums of Nazis and fascists in World War II."

"Either you move and obey what we ask of you, or we will clean you up. So, literally, an ultimatum. And all that on Vidovdan," said Brnabic.

The National Assembly president also said that it is interesting that a week before Vidovdan, some of the organizers of the announced protest presented what was the political program of the blockaders, which are the efforts to get Serbia to accept that the crime in Srebrenica was genocide and that so-called Kosovo is an independent state.

"That political program is identical to the political program of the former government, today's opposition, which is 'we must, willy-nilly, remove Aleksandar Vucic, because Aleksandar Vucic will never accept that the crime in Srebrenica was genocide'," added Brnabic.

Because they (protesters) cannot change the government democratically, they will try by force, so that people who might come to power would "admit and recognize that" (Srebrenica and Kosovo), she continued.

"This would put a label on us, that was the intent of the (Srebrenica) resolution in the United Nations, that Serbia is a genocidal creation, that our people are a genocidal nation, against which Aleksandar Vucic fought with all his might and in my opinion, it was one of the greatest diplomatic successes, if not the greatest diplomatic success in addition to (countries) withdrawing their previous recognitions of so-called Kosovo," Brnabic said.
