Serbian Prime Minister Djuro Macut has said that Serbia will not join sanctions imposed against Russia.

"As long as I am prime minister, the Serbian government will not join sanctions against Russia," Macut told TASS.

He added that Serbia maintains an interest in moving closer to BRICS, while developing relations with members of this organization is a strategic priority for our Republic.

"We consistently advocate the need to deepen cooperation with our traditional partners and friends. The BRICS countries are the most important players on the world stage, and the development of strong, mutually beneficial relations with them is of a strategic interest to us," Macut said.

The prime minister explained that at the same time, Serbia "continues its path towards membership in the European Union."
