Serbian club sacks Croatian goalkeeper for attending controversial concert by Marko Perkovic Thompson!
The Vojvodina handball club (RK Vojvodina) has decided to sack its Croatian goalkeeper Filip Ivic because he two days ago attended the concert of Marko Perkovic Thompson held in Zagreb, Croatia.

The club said it made this decision because Filip Ivic attended "Marko Perkovic Thompson's Ustasha rally."

"On the occasion of Filip Ivic's attendance at Marko Perkovic Thompson's Ustasha rally!
The Handball Club Vojvodina, as a symbol of Novi Sad, Vojvodina and the champion of Serbia, has its foundations not only in sporting successes, but also in respecting history, the sacrifices and values that make us a proud nation. We were shocked to receive the news that goalkeeper Filip Ivic attended Marko Perkovic Thompson's Ustasha rally, an event that did not represent a musical gathering, but an Ustasha feast where ideas and symbols that are synonymous with crimes against the Serb people were openly glorified.
To us, as a club whose coat of arms is that of the Serb people, that is not and cannot be acceptable. There is and will not be a place in RK Vojvodina for anyone who attends an event that insults the memories of thousands of innocent victims, of (WW2 death camp) Jasenovac, (Operation) Storm, and (destruction) of Serb homes.
That is why the club's management immediately terminated Filip Ivic's contract, because no one who stands side by side with those who celebrate evil can at the same time wear the jersey of a club that belongs to this nation and this city!
Our club does not treat people differently because of ethnicity or religion, but we clearly and loudly do separate good from evil, humanity from inhumanity, respect from insults. And we will do that as long as RK Vojvodina exists. Thank you to all the fans and citizens who understand this decision. Our reaction is not an act of revenge, but an expression of dignity!!! Our strength is our love for Serbia. For Novi Sad. For Vojvodina. For Serbia. Long live Serbia!!!"
