After yesterday's protest organized at the initiative of the Green-Left Front in Uzice, a group of citizens today blocked the building of the Basic Court in this town.

The reason is the decision to keep seven participants in the blockades detaibed for a month, on suspicion that they attacked members of the police.

The protesters are today preventing employees frin entering the court building and are demanding the release of those detained for attacking the police.

The gathering of citizens in central Uzice where all the main local institutions are located started around 10:00, and a little after 11:00, they blocked the court building after the order was issued to detain two more participants in the blockades, who were arrested on Tuesday.

Groups of citizens gathered last night in Uzice to protest, demanding the release of seven participants in the protests in that city, suspected of attacking members of the police during a blockade of the main road leading to Zlatibor on Sunday evening, who are detained for up to 30 days.

This decision was made to make sure the suspects do not repeat the criminal offense. If put on trial and found guilty, they could face over five years in prison, Tanjug was told by the court earlier.

Minister of Internal Affairs Ivica Dacic urged the citizens earlier in the day not to clash with the police.

"Did they break through a police cordon? Did they attack the police? Did they not release those videos themselves on social media? There's no discussion there," the minister told RTS.

Dacic added that everyone can protest as much as they want, but no one can say that someone is not guilty for hitting a police officer.
