Serbian Assembly President Brnabic and UK Special Envoy Pierce discuss EU integration

President of the Serbian Assembly Ana Brnabic received on Friday in Belgrade the UK special envoy for the Western Balkans, Karen Pierce.

According to a statement issued by the National Assembly, Brnabic and Pierce discussed key issues related to Serbia's EU integration, the rule of law, and parliamentary cooperation.

Brnabic stressed that Serbia's EU path is a strategic priority and that its institutions remain committed to implementing reforms, including the recommendations of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), the statement said.

Brnabic also noted the importance of constructive parliamentary dialogue and inclusion of all relevant actors in the work to improve the electoral framework.

She particularly stressed the importance of strengthening regional cooperation and said that security and stability in the Western Balkans are of vital interest to our country.

The interlocutors agreed that the strengthening of parliamentary cooperation is important in order to expand mutual understanding and the exchange of experiences in the field of democracy and reforms.

Karen Pierce invited the National Assembly to participate in an upcoming conference within the Berlin Process and noted the importance of Serbia in promoting regional cooperation and EU integration.
