Horrific details about Bajina Basta crime: Man murders ex-wife, 7-year-old son, then commits suicide

Mihailo R. (69) from Bajina Basta last night murdered his ex-wife Ana S.R. (46) and their seven-year-old son. The double murder and suicide happened last  night around 20:00 hours in the family home in the village of Obajgora, close to Bajina Basta.

Mihailo previously worked in Russia and met his ex-wife there. They came to Serbia but the marriage broke down. She moved to Novi Sad with the child. How and why she returned to the house is not yet known.

It is assumed that an argument occurred between Ana and Mihailo last night, but it is not fully known what exactly happened.

Ana S.R. was found dead in a room. She was shot three times. The child was found in another room, and was killed with a single bullet, while the murderer then committed suicide in the bathroom. He did not have a license for the gun he used to commit the crime.

The house where the killings took place is located in a clearing in a forest, with no nearby homes. The house can only be reached by a macadam road.

Ana S.R. came to Bajina Basta with her child a few days ago with a man who is assumed to have been her emotional partner. They stayed in a rented apartment.

Her partner tried to reach her on the phone yesterday, but Mihailo R. picked up instead. He said that the woman had gone for a walk and left the child in the house.

The man was suspicious, so he called the police. They immediately went to the site, but when they arrived they found only the bodies.

This family is not well known by locals in Bajana Basta. What people do know is that before going to Russia, the murderer worked for a public utility company in that town.
