Video of a mass brawl between locals and tourists in Croatia: German gets hit on the head with a shovel

On Tuesday, a fight broke out between German tourists and local residents in Klenovic, near Novi Vinodolski in Croatia.

It all happened between 18:00 and 19:00. First, the participants made a mess in a cafe, and then moved to a beach where the fight continued, 24sata.hr is reporting.

The police in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar area of Croatia confirmed that they received a report about a fight and disturbance of public order and peace, and that the proceedings regarding this are ongoing.

"I don't know what they were arguing about, they were visibly drunk. Two police officers came and tried to calm them down, but things then escalated. They were unable to do much, and one of the Germans was hit on the head with a shovel. Another (participant in the fight) was holding a rake. The video shows only the end part of the mayhem," a reader told the 24sata.hr site.

Both the police and other people who were trying to stop the escalating incident found it difficult to do anything about it.

"I couldn't get any closer, it was dangerous. It was as if they had lost their minds," another eyewitness said.
