Chinese companies are very interested in investing in Serbia and developing projects, President Aleksandar Vucic said today after a series of meetings with representatives of numerous Chinese companies held in Beijing, including those from Zijin Mining Group, HBIS, CETC, Power China, XPeng, CRBC and SANY Renewable Energy.

"Chinese companies are interested in investing in our country, this morning I spoke with representatives of three Chinese companies and will speak with another one, and I was interested in how export of our brandy and honey to China is going, it's going well, but it can be even better," Vucic said at the end of his multi-day visit to China, where he held meetings with representatives of more than 10 large Chinese companies.

He pointed out that Chinese companies currently employ 41,000 people in Serbia.

"Chinese companies today employ 41,000 people in Serbia, while it used to be 4,000-5,000... Today the number is ten times higher," said Vucic, stressing that it was a great honor for him to be in Beijing and that everything he does is ultimately for the sake of our country and our people.

"Soon we will become the biggest producer of copper in Europe, we will also be the biggest producer of gold in Europe. And the small Serbia will be all this thanks to that disrespected Vucic who managed to bring these people to our country," he said.

Last year, China was the single largest investor in Serbia with more than one billion euros.

The largest Chinese investors in Serbia are Zijin, which invested in RTB Bor in 2018, and Hesteel (HBIS Group), which acquired Zelezara Smederevo in 2016.
