The minister of defense of the provisional institutions of Pristina in the technical mandate, Ejup Maqedonci, announced that Pristina has received unmanned aerial vehicles Puma from the United States.

Maqedonci wrote on Facebook that AeroVironment RQ-20 Puma drones arrived in Kosovo and Metohija last week. According to his statement, Pristina paid for those drones in 2021.

Maqedonci did not say how many drones Pristina acquired. They are launched by hand, used for surveillance, and can stay in the air for up to 6.5 hours.

Allbin Kurti, the prime minister of the provisional Pristina institutions in the technical mandate, said earlier in the day that the so-called Kosovo Security Force (KSF) will be allocated more than one billion euros over the next four years and announced the development of military drones that will be produced in so-called Kosovo.

Kurti also announced that a joint unit will be created with the Albanian army.

According to UN Security Council Resolution 1244, KFOR is the only armed force allowed in Kosovo and Metohija, and that document also provided for the demilitarization of the so-called KLA ("Kosovo Liberation Army") and other ethnic Albanian armed groups.

However, in 2009, Pristina formed the so-called Kosovo Security Force (KSF) from the Kosovo Protection Corps, i.e. the former "KLA," while later the assembly of the provisional institutions, without the presence of Serb representatives, adopted a law on the transformation of the "KSF" into an army.
