EU monitoring amendments to Law on Textbooks, Vucevic: Serbia isn't interfering with Slovenian textbooks
Ruling SNS party leader and presidential advisor Milos Vucevic said today, regarding the reaction of EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos (who is Slovenian) to the amendments to the Law on Textbooks, that Serbia does not interfere with Slovenian textbooks and that Slovenia should not interfere with Serbian textbooks, either.
"I'm glad that the masks are slipping in that segment as well. You can see how much resistance there is around national textbooks, because the state said that, as far as the Serbian language, the world around us, music, history, geography is concerned - go for anything else but the state won't let you go for this, because it directly affects the education and upbringing of the generations who should lead the state," Vucevic told TV Pink.
He was reacting to Marta Kos saying that the European Commission and herself are "with great attention" monitoring the developments when it comes to changes to the Law on Textbooks and that she "personally raised the issue with the Serbian authorities."
Vucevic pointed out that children should not forget that the highest peaks in Serbia are on the Sara Mountain and on Prokletije, while neither the Cyrillic script and Serbian authors, nor the foreigner ones should be excluded.
"We don't interfere with Slovenian textbooks, so don't interfere with Serbian textbooks either," stressed Vucevic.
Commenting on a statement made by the dean of the FPN (Faculty of Political Sciences) about a student (election) list, the leader of the ruling Progressives (SNS) said that two things are interesting - they admit this is about "faceless politics", because no one knows who would be the prime minister, what the policy would be in relation to China and Russia, and, that they are not hiding counting on foreigners, without waiting to first see how the citizens would vote.
"She (the dean) says that when they create a list, those people would lead Serbia. They don't count on a democratically elected government. This is all deceitful. They have given themselves the right to decide on other people's lives. 'You the citizens have no say, we will threaten your safety and security, because we are God-given'. Then again, they do not believe in God. The question to all the so-called patriots - how can you be with them, in destroying your own state? How can you carry a flag with the image of Jesus Christ while attacking the Serbian police, attempting to bring Dinko Gruhonjic into the university?," asked Vucevic.
