Brnabic: Serbia will receive additional quantities of gas from Azerbaijan during winter months

Serbian National Assembly President Ana Brnabic says that a new contract to provide additional supply of gas to Serbia has been agreed with Azerbaijan, and pointed out that Serbia will receive additional quantities of gas from Azerbaijan during winter months.

Brnabic is in Baku on an official visit, and after the meetings she had she said that the contract on additional gas has been agreed upon, and that all that remains is for it to be signed in the coming weeks.

"We will have additional quantities of gas, as requested by President Aleksandar Vucic, for the sake of our energy security. What's important for our citizens and the economy is the cooperation between Serbia and Azerbaijan in the energy sector. Energy security is an integral part of national security, and Azerbaijan is one of our most important and loyal friends," said Brnabic.

She pointed out that it is significant that - in addition to the already agreed quantities of gas - at the explicit request of President Aleksandar Vucic, Azerbaijan willprovide additional quantities of gas for Serbia in winter months.

"That is very important for the coming winter, and it also shows how important the personal friendship between President Vucic and President Aliyev is. In all the meetings I had, with the speaker of the parliament, the prime minister, the ministers of economy and finance, everyone said that Serbia is a priority and that they everything asked for will be met," Brnabic stressed.

She added that the visit to Baku was very successful and that important topics for Serbia and Azerbaijan were discussed in a large number of meetings.

Brnabic stated that parliamentary cooperation between the two countries has been particularly strong since 2022, when her predecessor Vladimir Orlic signed an agreement with his Azerbaijani counterpart.

Brnabic added that the Friendship Group with Azerbaijan was also formed in this convocation of the Serbian National Assembly and that the cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries will continue at that level of intensity.
