Aleksandar Vucic welcomes Ursula von der Leyen at Belgrade airport, and in front of Palace of Serbia
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic welcomed late on Tuesday at the Belgrade airport President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
"It is a great pleasure to extend a warm welcome to President Ursula von der Leyen in Belgrade. Each of her visits has a special significance for Serbia and represents another step in the direction of strengthening cooperation and trust between our country and the European Union," Vucic posted on Instagram, and added:
"We will discuss strategically important issues of our European path, reforms, momentum in European enlargement policy and joint efforts to preserve stability and peace in the region.
I am especially grateful for the personal commitment and support she has been providing to Serbia for years on our reform and development path.
Welcome to Serbia, dear Ursula."
Von der Leyen will be on an official visit to Serbia on October 14 and 15.
She was officially welcomed on Wednesday morning in front of the Palace of Serbia in New Belgrade.
This was followed by a meeting with Vucic, and statements to the press.
The president of the European Commission is this week on a tour of the Western Balkans.
