Bus full of passengers overturns near Sremska Mitrovica: Two dead, many injured

A bus drove into a canal on the Sremska Mitrovica - Jarak road in northwestern Serbia today, and flipped onto its roof.

According to unofficial information, two passengers were killed, while at least 10 people sustained various degrees of injury, from serious  to light.

The passengers were being evacuated from the vehicle, but their number and condition, as well as the cause of the accident were still unknown as of Friday afternoon.

Eearlier reports said that traffic on the road from Zasavica to Ruma was temporarily closed on Friday because of a bicycle race.

After the accident, a number of ambulances and police vehicles were seen rushing from Sremska Mitrovica in the direction of Ruma, in order to reach the crash site near Jarak.

The prosecution has been informed about the accident.
