Serbian National Assembly President Brnabic calls local elections in Secanj for November 30
Serbian National Assembly Ana Brnabic today signed the decision on calling elections for councilors of the Secanj Municipal Assembly for November 30 this year.
"Unlike the regular elections for the municipal in Mionica and Negotin, which I announced on October 1, snap elections are to be held in Secanj, given that the Government of Serbia made a decision on October 16 to dissolve the Secanj Municipal Assembly," Brnabic said after signing the decision, as she addressed journalists in the hall of the Serbian National Assembly.
She stated that the Government's decision entered into force with its publication in the Official Gazette on October 17.
"It is my obligation, in line with the Law on Local Self-Government, to call the elections for the new convocation of the Secanj Municipal Assembly. I decided to call the elections for November 30, to coincinde with the vote in the municipalities of Mionica and Negotin," said Brnabic.
She said she hoped and wished that the elections take will place peacefully, and see a fair competition between plans and programs presented by all interested participants.
Brnabic added that she believes residents of the municipality of Secanj will choose the best candidates to represent them in the future convocation of the local assembly.
Previous local elections were held in Secanj on April 11, 2022.
