Vucic meets with Babayev: Serbia is determined to continue developing cooperation with Azerbaijan

President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic met today in Belgrade with Minister of Finance of Azerbaijan Sahil Babayev, and in the conversation, pointed out that Serbia is determined to continue to develop and improve mutually beneficial cooperation with Azerbaijan, especially in the fields of economy, energy, defense and traffic infrastructure.

"An excellent conversation with Minister Babayev about further strengthening of the overall bilateral ties between our countries," Vucic stated in a post on Instagram.

He stressed that relations between Serbia and Azerbaijan are at a very high level and based on mutual trust and respect.

"The sincere friendship and strategic partnership between our countries is confirmed by the continuous political dialogue at all levels. Soon we expect the visit of the president of Azerbaijan to Belgrade, during which the first session of the Council for Strategic Partnership between Serbia and Azerbaijan will be held," added Vucic.

He stated that cooperation in the field of energy and the commissioning of the Serbia-Bulgaria gas interconnection are extremely important for Serbia, which launched the supply of gas from Azerbaijan to Serbia.

Vucic once again thanked Azerbaijan for its firm and principled stance not to recognize the unilaterally declared independence of so-called Kosovo, as well as for the consistent support it provides to Serbia in numerous international forums, including Baku's advocacy for Serbia to be chosen as the host of EXPO 2027.

"I am grateful to Minister Babayev for his visit, sincere conversation and friendly approach. Serbia and Azerbaijan share the same values, stability, trust and commitment to joint progress. I am convinced that our countries will continue to develop relations in the spirit of sincere friendship and strategic partnership," concluded Vucic.
