Presidents of Serbia and Romania speak about all bilateral issues of importance for both countries
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic spoke today by phone with President of Romania Nicusor Dan about all bilateral issues of importance for both countries.
Vucic stated in a post on Instagram that the two countries are connected by centuries-old friendship, closeness and cooperation in all areas, and added that he believes there is still plenty of room to further strengthen political dialogue and achieve visible progress in the dynamically advancing economic relations.
"We pay special attention to large energy projects that contribute to the security and stability of both countries. One of the most important projects is the Belgrade-Timisoara highway, which would connect our two cities and reduce travel time to only one hour, and this road would further strengthen our ties and make life easier for citizens on both sides of the border," Vucic pointed out.
He added that EU membership remains Serbia's strategic goal.
"That is why we have decided to implement all the necessary reforms by the end of 2026, and we are grateful to Romania for supporting this process and for its willingness to share its expertise," the president stated.
Vucic also said he is grateful for Romania's consistent and principled support for Serbia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and its position not to recognize Kosovo's unilaterally declared independence.
"That support represents not only respect for international law, but also proof of a sincere friendship between our peoples," Vucic stressed.
The president of Serbia noted that he is greatly satisfied with Romania's decision to take part in EXPO 2027 in Belgrade, which he said is an event of key importance for the development of both Serbia and the region.
