President Vucic comments on possibility of becoming Serbia's next prime minister: I never said I would...
President Aleksandar Vucic stated today that he never said he would run for prime minister, but merely that this is not impossible.
At the same time, he stressed that the Serbian Constitution will not be changed (to allow him another term as president) and that the next president will be someone else.
"First of all, they have been saying for years that the Constitution would be changed in order for me to continue as president. The Constitution will not be changed. And I said it then, I said it today - someone else will be president," Vucic told TV Prva, and added that the issue of the next Serbian prime minister is yet to be discussed, and that the people are yet to have their say.
He noted that people in Serbia are the ones who choose their government and that this is the most important thing, emphasizing that the sovereignty of the people is the essence of the functioning and existence of a state.
"On the other hand, I did not say at all that I would run for prime minister. I said that is not impossible, no more than that. But when I saw how much passion and how much hysteria there is, 'he wants to run for prime minister, he will still be in power...' Well how am I supposed to stay in power when I am the worst, the most unloved and the most unpopular, while the people love you (the opposition) so much. Why, I would be happy in any place," Vucic said.
