Vladimir Putin speaks about NIS! "I believe Belgrade will meet its obligations"
President Vladimir Putin has been holding his annual press conferences for more than two decades, where he presents his political views and analyses to the public in Russia, and abroad.
During this year's conference, a journalist from Serbia told the Russian leader that the company NIS (Petroleum Industry of Serbia), a joint venture between Russia and Serbia, is suffering the consequences of Western sanctions. The reporter then sked for the president's comments regarding this situation.
"Regarding NIS, the pressure of Western sanctions continues, and that is an indicator of political power. Moscow assumes that Belgrade will meet its obligations, and that the two countries will implement numerous other projects," said Putin, not wishing to expand on this topic.
Earlier today the president of Russia told Sputnik that he knows what is happening with NIS and that he hopes a solution will be found jointly.
"We are aware of what is happening with the NIS company. We have an interstate agreement and we assume that the friendly Serbian leadership will keep this in mind. We have an idea in which direction we want to move forward together. We are working on it and I hope we will find the necessary solution," Putin said, according to Sputnik.
He also said that regardless of the aspiration to improve relations, the pressure of sanctions continues as a way of demonstrating force, the Serbian RT site is reporting.
"Moscow assumes that Belgrade will fulfill its obligations and that Russia and Serbia will implement numerous other joint projects," Putin said.
